This research project delves into the rich Japanese history of barrel making, ‘kioke’. By exploring and adapting the ‘kioke’-making technique, I aim to create innovative forms and objects that vary widely in typology. These new creations could range from large-scale recreational designs to smaller items like plates. This study seeks to honor the traditional methods while pushing the boundaries of their application in modern design, showcasing versatility and craftsmanship.
